Wolf At The Door Poems | Examples

Hades Revisited

Having less
suffering more
Doors were slamming
wolf at the door

Arriving first
finishing last
Spiraling downward
— perdition recast

(The New Room: February, 2025)

Ukraine and the Wolf

I grieve for those in Ukraine
Who woke up one day to find
The wolf at the door.

They do not fold,
They fight with everything in their arsenal.
Molotov cocktails, grandmothers with weapons,
Those brave enough to stand in front of tanks
All are images that will stay with me.

Their leader fights among them,
Proud Ukrainian man with a family of his own
His rallying cry is heard round the world; he fights for his country.

Hunt the wolf; end his reign of terror.
Catch the wolf in a trap, and let him wither and die.

My brothers and sisters we’ve got a wolf at our door.
It’s here to take all we have and even a little more.
It’s got sharp claws, big teeth and keen eyes.
It’s going to cause chaos and try to bring about our demise.

Make no mistake, this darkness will try to envelop us all.
It wears a coat of many colors and it’s here to make us fall.
We need to cast aside our differences and together unite.
We need to all understand and stop this senseless fight.

Let’s all move forward and make a fresh new start.
We need to start showing some love and it needs to come from the heart.
Why must we be labeled with descriptions that are racially slurred?
Our hearts and minds have become clouded and our vision has been blurred.

Silence can be golden but there are words we need to hear.
We all need to breathe and learn to control our fear.
There is only one you and there is only one me.
But together we can become strong and help others to see.

A Grumpy Cat Halloween

Ah, how to dress her for this day?
We think she's getting senile in
a very unique way!
She can't be Wonder Woman anymore!
Why she's too old to be Goldilocks!
She looks more like that scary wolf at the door.

With a Mickey Mouse hat!
Nah! She looks like an old rat.
And she won't dress like an old maid.
Hence, a decision was made.
Let's dress her who she's like most.
Of course, like Grumpy Cat!
Lovable, frowning and always
saying, "NO!

Happy Halloween to all poets!

Panagiota,
Poet of "NO"...LOL
