I don't belong to my heart
sings a different tune,
stranger to me.
Bemused, my heart is broken
from me, like a caged bird
that wants to fly away
and that's when I feel
the pinch and heartache
visiting like an eel in a cave
swimming in darkness.
I don't belong to my heart
crying for love that's never
there, and the emptiness
I know something about.
You better know I'm not happy
screams my heart to my
deaf ears, glued to the ceiling
and the stubborn fly that
wizzes around.

Under that lid
Lies a labyrinth, glistening
Made sturdy by steel
Perched on an alien-like platform
A circuit board, if you will
Weaving in and out of this entangled metal mech
A perplexing network of cables, the forefront of future tech
Where electrons are trapped, stored on an endless grid
They make up the rules, for this systematic procedure
Infinite possibilities, no humanity to hold them back, no morals to forbid
It wizzes and whirs, primes itself during the boot
Archived processes, numbers; everything it must compute
Upon the completion of this Frankenstein operation
For us, it is reduced under our obligation

At breakneck speed I hurl fast
Towards impending doom
Singing an after work tune
Excited to get home to nothing.
I pass a car swerving as I
Swear out a gentle concern
Ignoring what lies ahead as I
Pass it in an instant
A reminiscent color scheme
Wizzes by my driver’s side
Peering wearily into blackness
At those brilliant red eyes
Sinking into a relaxed state
Calming wonders in my mind
I turn up the happiness
That blocks out the outside.
Red eyes… closer than they
Dare to peer suddenly
Decide my fate at 100 mph
In a blurry limp hurry I collide...
Two souls meet in the blackness.
One, singing a tune to sound waves
The other, in a wireless haze..
Both excited to get home to nothing.
