A baron's efforts to hold his wealth
only to have it turn on himself.
His estate slips away like water
so sad his firstborn was a daughter.
Which would have likely prevented her
through the norms of primogeniture
to assume a place of prominence
refuting male gender dominance.
But by breaking this sibling pattern
we can tell how well women govern.
Males think they must be our defender
except when it comes down to gender.
Mostly eldest males would inherit
despite if they showed little merit.
Blind bias ran rampant for ages
through Jane Austen's parody pages.
Scattered blood lines inked in a novel
as knights would want his damsels docile.
In past days some sought gender justice
equality should be best for us.

Aristocrats may have it in their blood.
It speaks of deeds both dark and heroic,
of evil villains and the truly good,
and markers left both kindly and despotic .
All were aware of centuries long gone,
of conflicts won and lost upon this shore
and loves and lives both humble and wellborn,
within these brooding walls in days of yore.
Majestic symbol in these northern lands,
inspiring those who tread the Pilgrims’ Way,
who gaze across these shining, shifting sands
and know that Bamburgh’s stories live today.
What am I,
But falling leaves, in
Autumn's rust,
And all that has passed?
I am here,
Reincarnated,
Born again,
Of shrivelled gardens-
Wellborn lives,
Of numberless worlds,
Noble deaths,
Through eternal time.
Ere seasons,
Before summer; before spring,
White silence,
I have been.
Why I am,
But to vent their love,
Their goodbyes,
Hello again, Life!
Every flitter,
Every blossom,
Every dive,
Every motion.
Every scrabble,
Every cry,
Every struggle,
Every fight,
For-
