Magnetic storm emitted
A surge of solar blow
I wasn’t there, but you
Were touched by it, I know
Soon afterwards you thought
“What makes me talk to him”
All reasons were rejected
Except a silly whim
Next evening you were smiling
And joking quite a lot
And I had no idea
Of the forthcoming plot
You waited, till I went to sleep
Pulled out your magic sword
And cutted off my silly head
It fell with great C major chord
Well done, the angels sang
Your pc screen is quiet
It doesn’t show my face
You’ve better things to smile at
I was a weather side effect
Inevitably I go dim
In memories that wither
No place is saved for silly whim
You have to manage treatments
Hell of a lot of stuff
All serious, plus vapes
Which you can’t get enough
The last time lullaby
I’d record, if I only knew
A little more about the moon
And of the sun in you.

A tear bubbled and bled
To run warm then cold in the keening wind
Hands too busily working in stinking bait gloves
Were of no use as cheeks reddened in frozen feeling
The pitching and yaw of the hauled in boat added to the stress
The traps had to be emptied and filled
And the sea was not cooperating
No words were said
None were needed
His eyes said it all
No matter that he’d run up on the weather side
God forbid he’d err at all
And this was a minor squall
Finally the traps were done and run out
At least he did that into the weather
Or as close as he could
They had to run North to South
No matter where they were
Huddled in out of the wind
Hands free to wipe the streaming nostrils
On wet cold jeans and suck down
The thermos of hot buttered rum
She wondered if anyone ever thought
Of where lobster came from
