Listerning to pings of the cattle bells
In the lower velds full of pungent smells
Soothed by sounds of cooing doves
Startaled bunnies and wild goose
Remember the silences of the Chiremba hills
Infested with colonies of pricking thorns
Where we Learnt and practice hunting drills
Afraid of voodoos of the Sacred stones
Cheering battles of fighting foes
Pitching on bouders and climbing trees
Humming flows and Singing blues
Traditional Beats by clapping shoes
Gathering berries for cruel bullies
sneaking on giggling Girls along flowing rivers
Drawn by mischiefs and their stimulus giggles

The African Heat
*************************
************************
Seyon felt a silent pain;
Almost agony
People feel at the knowledge that
They are dispensable after all
She had also felt
The shame of a child who sees a grown - up
Suddenly caught in the act of chasing
A butterfly over velds and roads.
Wel, dit is 'n spreekwoord;
The African heat
Does things to women,
Miskien vreemde dinge
Strange things.

Three waves blew past
My two arms stretched wide
With one word in my head: Haven!
And to you alone shall I confide
The tide brought a whisper to my ear
"A simple pleasure I give to you, my dear"
An uphill steep each man is forced to climb
And atop that mount is a rare moment of daze
When you glimpse your Pain lamenting below
And feel the breeze brushing at your face
Empty your mind but don't shut it close
To the simple pleasures under the mountain's nose
The rigors of life may yet sink you low
Deep down away from the starlit skies
But twirling and curling in the open meadow
Are vivid blossoms pleasing to thy eyes
Down in the velds also, that beautiful haze
These simple pleasures often elude my days

Sweet Home
From the tense of turbulence you profer comfort,
from the tests of time you offer abode,
Will all the fortresses of home refer incline?
Will all the fortitudes of hope adversity sublime?
The ocean of pleasure thou are; forever will I clamour instill,
The mission of leisure sweet amass; forever will I welcome still.
Dotting the lines of succour through the poets' quill-pen,
Blotting the limbs of honour through the Equerrian quince.
The enclave of birth and nurture to the dwell enclose,
The conclave of might and culture to the bells entwine.
Entrenched in shelter from rain and sun concomitant undo,
Embellished in sceptres from ornaments to unravel the feud's undue.
As the elements of Architecture are singing beautitudes,
The velvets of bevels are clinking tambourines.
As the culverts of artefacts are mincing soirees,
The valance of bevies are ringing solarium.
In May you lay in mash of holy velds,
And in June will Juno return amidst.
Oh God of mercy grant us the grace of lair,
When the solace of sauna breeds comfort of sweet home.
