A Dream City

A heritage resplendent in culture and crafts
Where monuments rub shoulders with swank malls
Enticing blend of old and new
Lucknow my town always enthralls

Values well enshrined so deep within
Greets with a warmth endearing
A city with a global vision
Boasts of a legacy alluring

An array of exquisite creations
Their splendour holds us spell bound
Dreams woven into yards of fabric
A magnificence that does astound

Succulent kebabs relished by all
Medley of age old secret recipes
Sizzling in congested lanes
Take pride of place in grand feasts

Tourists find it hard to part
Leave behind their piece of heart;
Taste and grace, or class , cuisine
City of Nawabs reigns supreme.

Bat My Hat With Your Pat

O ' My Master, Bat my hat with your pat
My hat is my ego, my arrogance
Which I rare take off when enter near Thee
You being master pat it so not be inflated.

Life after life has accumulated and stored
None but your enemy-the Ego which poses
Hindrance to reach to you and get assimilated
My master, groaning my heart for your Love

Come like a Dove in my lap
Hatch my eggs of honesty and humility
So I may fly high to scale the inaccessible
Day and night i am burdened with the pain of

False attachment this world gives us false hopes of belongingness
But what happens with the turn of events
All our well wishers who stood with us once
Now have shown the exit door ajar

What does it happen God made the relationship to caress you
but we have got entangled in that web
Which was never true never had any substance
but we poor fellow got enmeshed in to it

Now my saviour come and help me overcome my sorrow genes
To atone my sins and be with you
Since you are infinite and me finite
Let us enjoy and get unite

The Autumn of Life

With heightened urge to swim and splash
To the nearby river, with its twists and bends
In warm summer evening of Uttar Pradesh
A child sets out with a group of friends

The flowing water and its blissful rinse
The currents and waves and their silky flow
Climbing their shoulders and reaching their chins
The ecstasy causing the faces to glow

Oblivious of risks, bubbling with zeal
Knowing not a storm could mount a siege
The fury and rage could serenity steal
Ignorant that scenery could turn a page

You and I are riding the quick sand of time
The turbulent river of life is in spate
We know not that we could be victims prime
Oblivious of meeting a devastating fate

Is there a spring of autumn of life?
Where is the promised mercy’s floodgate?
Is our destiny anguish and strife?
O Saviour’s Benign Hands! How long to wait?
