I ask you, sir!
Of late, inanimate
Toothless, tethered
Can’t jump turnstiles
"Agree, align"
"Ask, but smile"
Mute, asinine
"Uncalled, unnice"
"Pushy, out-of-style"
You know, I’m fine
"A wish, undone"
"Exit, condone"
"Look back, smile"
"Unearth, sift"
"Write," but why?
Unbonded, servile
Alive, a life
…Sad, demise

SONG OF THE SKYLARKS
Oh, freedom is full-flung unbounded:
Riding the light wind’s wave
On invisible surf crest,
Diving fast with wings withdrawn,
Beating down the air and gliding at full speed,
Floating, rolling, soaring into the sun:
Tireless, ever hovering unbonded.
Cradled in the bosom of the air,
Sleeping on the wing over the dark earth;
Necks a-stretch in formation heading south :
Pointing down a sure course,
Driving hard, bound for home.
