Evening Performance

The lights lower.
The invisible conductor 
raises
his magic wand.
Sounds swell. All musicians
in the cicada orchestra
play the tymbal.
Bats dance
to the firefly light show
against a backdrop
of cadmium blue.

Night drops the curtain.
Tireless,
the players continue –
music until dawn.
