To 143 This Valentines

1 4 3 on Valentines... From Me

I was used to having you around
Even though it meant my head would pound
Even though my heart would ache
I was used to waking up and seeing your face

But everything happens for a reason
That’s what they say

You and I had our time
Joyful and sad days, our love was bitter and sweet like lemon lime
I don’t mind letting her have you this valentine’s coz I had mine
Mine was twelvemonths times fourteen
I was with you since I was a teen

Now a grown woman, and I am pleased, to have journeyed this road with you
With a smile on my face and a little pain in my heart
I wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day...1= I 4= Love 3= You

Cycles

The looking glass needs shining
images are blurred
ancient mirror is the culprit
for my heart is young and light
behind - the reflector
shows a picture on the wall
when I was young and agile
no indistinction here
smoothest glass - no rendered warp
now - my image altered so
years escorted down my path
replaced the ageless innocence
with wisdom taking hold
trading handsomeness of portrait
for knowledge tried and true
all the twelvemonths fed my being
prime was every golden plate
now famine sits in effigy
portraying beauty's fade
delicately sliding
meshed in atmosphere's oblivion
