Trash Barrel Poems

Premium Membertomato worms pleas

the ripe red elite tomato made a sweet slice
decay and mold nowhere, it truly was nice.
garden knew it was the tomato’s time to reign
fat juicy intrusive tomato worm plead insane

carrots sat by watching as silently as sheep
their alarm bells going off, but not very deep
garden crone came by and cast a freshness spell
you decide if she is a witch, for you know her well

inside her trunk was her cat familiar, a ready alarm
ripe and eager to pound her paw and use a charm
I found myself too scared to take another peek or drink
sweat poured out of my hair holes; my face was pink.

on the tree trunk fence a master gardener’s chart
next to it sat a rhubarb pie, that is close to my heart.
do not put me into the trash barrel the tomato worm plead.
you are in a scrape I replied, for I want you dead.

Snow In the Suburbs

A cheap imitation toy
Next a deep colored strewn rose
In a house in the 'burbs
     At nighttime under heavy snow.

     A faltering streetlamp
     Near an unretrieved upturned trash barrel;
A backyard dog looks out to lick the snow.
     Then silence for a while.

Karma

Said a dream about the future
In the back of his mind to lay quiet
A past to put in trash barrel
His vision is a NOW
Forsaking external pleasures for internal time
He would fail in every Job that was taken
Every one of his peers would brand him A SUCKER
The Karma is a projector
projecting what's to be on his make believe PLASMA TV
Coddling a remnant, this pacifier from his WAY BACK years
Why let go of it when it was so much fun?
It is simpler days that we want to hang on to
Afraid to face the Eventual certainty
They call him a QUACK
for trying to regain
Something that is no more
which HE can never get back
