I Ask

Give me ten daggers of courage
          for the journey into the jungle of fear
let me have seven furrowed- teeth of the lion
       to bite the wayward testis of this beast

Clothe me with the armour of words
     to house all the beads of boldness
to fight my flying pulse,
           and dispel the errant dog of despair

I need  the syringe from David’s veins 
     to sprint through life’s compost bed of bile,
 and emerge, emerge
with the wreathe of dead foes in hands.
       
 I ask, ask 
     for a kilobyte of Sango’s laughter
           to leach envious hisses from boastful buccals
