the stars flow across the midnight sky
like diamonds in black cloth
the light of the moon glints your eyes
as i caress you cheek
eons pass like the wind between our faces
the tallgrass moves with slow motion
in the will of the breeze....
i am drawn to you, like daybreak in my heart
ever gentle, ever loving
your soul entwines with mine
they swirl in this galaxy of besotted stardust....

Form: I do not know?
Across the prairie, driving fast,
a gust of wind, I cannot pass,
I’m transfixed by rippling grass,
stop the car in this empty space,
the blades all move in staggered waves.
Cattle graze nearby, lazily,
to the motion the pay no heed,
though one stares warily at me,
but I’m still caught by the motion
of wind through this tallgrass ocean.
So different from eastern forest,
or baking desert nearly lifeless,
why should I be en rapt by this?
I who have scaled a rocky range,
seen buttes and needles, landforms strange.
Looked at canyons bigger that states,
at glaciers that smash mountains great,
how could flat grassland ever rate?
But whispered motion of stalks long
entrances me…I must gaze on.

The grocer still smiles at the family
Passing by his counter, owl-eyed at the
Fresh food display,
Shot down in the streets defending freedom,
While shareholders measure outcomes.
In the forest, a doe watches her fawn nibble
Plant growth-
O Holy God, save our souls!
Soldiers march in protest-
Lance the lies! walk the tallgrass,
Finding peace-
Finding
Peace

A run-down barn nestled among low and gentle hills,
it adds natural charm to a breathtaking landscape.
On sunny mornings, it adorns itself with sunrays,
making the screeching ravens flee to a shady spot.
Its paint is peeling off due to an abandoned state,
it once echoed with the constant moos of cattle.
It can almost hear the tractors heading for the harvest,
emitting fumes to disperse the wildflowers' strong aroma.
Mockingbirds are too annoyed to welcome another crisp morning
with their thrilling notes that can make the radiant air so festive.
Cowboys riding on fast horses gave life to these fileds, once tallgrass prairies...
even they have left these lands where buffalos, elks and coyotes freely roamed.
Driving back home, dusk changes the color of fields, clouds, hills and sky...
shadows invade the lonely barn on Greenpoint Road followed by many stars.
