Sovereign Grace

Thy grace I see of which I spurned
An awful merit I had earned
And my poor soul to thee unturned
And left behind frail bridges burned
Thy pardoning love to me have learned
My desolated heart sojourned
For I thy death have not discerned
My blinded eyes by tears unchurned
T'is then of sin that I had mourned
And found my heart of self dethroned
That which I had usurped, returned
And paid the price, by friends suborned
In want of such, my state I mourned
With darkened visage, they had scorned
Since I of late my faith reformed
Yet all my life this truth I yearned
To this divine ambition, I had sworn
May I thy sovereign grace adorn

Bribing the Devil

Leaving nothing to his children but cowardly shame,
his back turned toward the light

His memory the captor of a traitorous scheme,
capitulating through the fight

His legacy broken, his endowment recalled,
his reputation scorched and burned

Offering to the Devil his original sin
—with redemption twice suborned

In the Eu

Just before the butler tried to phone
My mobile leaped into its dead Flight Mode
Alas it never gives me mobile groans

I could have hit it with a brick or stone
I might have to depend more on Morse Code
When the landlord tries to use my phone

I was quiet as I sat here alone
Is my problem long or is it broad?
Ghosts suborned , why utter mobile groans?

The music of the heart is never gone
Keats was once inspired to write an Ode
In the EU will I have no phone?

Why will God not get one of his own?
A Grecian Urn, a teapot,a new loaf
Nothing ever blathers mobile groans

Why not hide while watching a strange Toad?
Frogs play dead when cats spy watery homes
Just before dictators try to phone
My mouth gapes and out fly the words I loath.

Premium MemberNew Year Old Resolve

"I feel the most ridiculous resolution
is the one you have to make more than once......just saying"

I have a list quite lengthly
That I've composed this year
Of things that I would like to change
To a path I would not veer
A rock upon, to build my wall
And staunchly never budge
And start to lose this excess weight
Right after Christmas fudge
And maybe just a piece of cake
And a slice of home made pie
A couple little cookies
Couldn't add much to my thighs
That Christmas pudding "Oh My God"
Can't let that go to waste
Won't add to suborned belly fat
Just to take a taste
"YES" I can't wait to New Years day
With "The Past" over my shoulders
Unless of course on New Years Day
I have to eat Leftovers

Generational Divide

Tinted stars on flatter screens
suave images do hype
Black & White visages from
nostalgic era still archetype
Touched-up photos the ideal
caricature to swipe
Still Life portraits from
Renaissance remain heartfelt
prototype
Gratuitous mavericks, in
manicured uniforms with
stenciled bats, freely gripe
Talented shills in baggy pants
with suborned fealty flailed the
wooden pipe
Poltroons in front of polished
syndicate, with lofty promises
alter egos fight
Festooned pols with burnished
principles at the graven stump
unite
Educated shoppers browse
structured bins with
genetically-modified produce
tainted with chemical wipe
Third generation farmers in
Roaring 20's preen nature's
blight, then pick, sale organic
produce wholsomely ripe

Order of the Drafted

Suborned to serve without recourse
Bonded to fight in dissonant force
Branded as national material resource
Sanctioned to bridge political discourse.

Constrained to go on amorphous mission
Commanded to kill with cunning precision
Ordered to sacrifice without condition
Feted to die in lowly contrition.
