Open the Silver State
And get things straight
About this issue spreading isolation that breeds hate
Open the Silver State
Maybe the anti-social sickness enemy will take the bait
By having some fun
And when it is done
A confession may come
Let the other forty nine states know
And the Coronavirus stage name will take the hint than go
Feeling guilty about its mask guard aid show
For it doesn’t belong here
Preventing those from wiping a tear
While digging into the steak courtesy of a local steer
When this is over
Covid 19 will be put in a folder
An enemy whose script dialogue was rated colder
Leaving the world healing an infection
Based on safety rhetoric and results from a nose inspection

It was my birthday, only God knows the year
we played 8 ball, downed platoons of whiskey and beer
After last call things got a little hazy
The next day my buddy Jake filled in the blanks.
Seems I begged him to drive me to the sinful silver state...
Instead, he pacified me with a fifth of 180 proof.
The last thing I remember was tugging at my shoes.
The next morning, I found them between two panes of glass.
looking like a pair of patent leather jets that had run out of gas.
The landlord just shook his head, said get to work then laughed.
With head filled with neon mist and a fist filled with glaze...
I climbed up Jake's ladder and squared up with the pane.
based on a true story-the name was changed to protect the guilty

Beyond the mighty Humboldt
Where the Artemisia blooms,
The broken ribs of mountains
Lie tilted toward the sky.
‘Twas called a wretched wasteland
That Satan, himself, passed by;
Where no self-respecting bird
Would stay if it could fly.
Its rivers are pretenses,
Called navigable by law.
Thirsty dragonflies may wing
Thirty miles to find a spring.
Nature gave it acne skin,
Best summed by this report:
“A most paltry stretch of earth;
Ugliness of no import.”
Miners dug just short of Hell
In search of bonanza lodes;
And found the gold and silver
To fund Mister Lincoln’s war.
Battle born, the Silver State
Lent much to the Union cause.
The Union will pay its debt,
With Yucca Mount’s toxic load.
