Premium Member Streetlight

I walked beneath the streetlight, then, slow paused;
the yellow phosphorescent glow had caused
a strange shadow to hover above mine;
hesitate a while, then did intertwine;
a margin which it long ago transgressed;
an unwanted, and uninvited guest.
Streetlights, nightlights, the shadow is the same;
it is my shadow, mine, I am to blame.

As I run from your goodness
Your righteousness, should be my completeness
But I have digress, guess I've yes, transgressed
You are but so ever meaning full
putting the rapid before the hole
Spiraling down, spinning round spinning down
Rapid desension,haven't repented
Now I'm headed for Hades

The Zealot

The zealot was a man of convictions
Believed he that he was on the right
All others but him were perishing
Self righteous he loathed others
Believed himself chosen anointed

Transgressed he on the commandment
Love.. he only had for his own self
Penance he believed below his station
On matters of faith concieted he believed
That the creator was of his religion

Forgiveness Now

How long does it take
For the Old Sin to wash away
Will there be a time when
Forgiveness becomes the cry
For those who have transgressed
And crossed the line in the sand

Do we start again at this time
Or have they been punished enough
Even when executions occur
The opinion is that they have
Paid the price for their deeds
And allowed to rest in peace.

Sexual Relations

"I have never had sexual relations with that woman",
he said, and we all believed him because folks that
high up didn't lie

then things got sticky in congress, so he admitted he
 had transgressed, but that's OK

and I went home one day (I was on a diet) and my
sweet wife asked, "where's the yellow cake I baked? ",
and I said, " I have never had any cake", to my woman.

and she believed me because husbands didn't lie

Exposed In Darkness

Memories became trapped in the shade of an eclipse,
Light that they once held gone, buried in feelings of transgressed sin.
All hope bled out of me through the scars in which you had left.
   Slowly my heart started to shrivel and desiccate from within.

*”Exposed in Darkness.” is a four-line verse taken from my original poem, “The Falling.” Date: December 2nd, 2020. Intended for the entry of the Liberum Divisa 3 contest.*

How High

HOW  HIGH

Mountains and Mole hills,
Intimidations or Simple Contemplations-
depends how high you wish to fly !

When Neanderthals transgressed the land
it was wonderous to meet each meal-
yet, now we dine in a minutes time.

Watching the birds fly about,
for many years we desired its convenience-
until we walked up on the moon.

Mountains and Mole Hills,
Intimidations or Simple Contemplations-
depends how high you wish to fly !

He stares into the lighthouse fire
an ant in the hole
Against his throat rests the wire
a life that his beloved stole
When suddenly the sparks' igniter
is pieces of a whole
Far from his ancestral shire
he digests the mole
Betrayal for something shining brighter
he takes time to patch his soul
She stole from him his final lyre
but he will regain control

After all that's transgressed, there's nothing left
No longer will he be drowned in the reft
