MY ETERNAL STALACTITE
GOD,
My eternal stalactite,
Let THY precious drops of
Wisdom,
Upon my craving for knowledge soul,
One after the other to
Fall
Thus
My stalagmite,
Layer after layer,
Towards
THY heights to
Raise
And
From THY point of truth,
Enable me,
TO SEE ALL!

Epigram
Injured by an ice cube
'Tis hard to comprehend,
removal from it's tray
a spike of ice extends.
This dagger like stalagmite
did pierce my very skin,
a chilling site, believe me,
and much to my chagrin!
Some blood did run, yet briefly,
a smallish wound you see,
same ice that did the spearing
I used for healing me!

Rhyme
limestone hearted eaten away
by God's eternal, feral rain
stalagmite preachers in full royal bloom
igniting fanged candles to temper gloom
memories choked with thorny throated weeds
half-hearted souls, blue marbled eulogies...
truly, time chisels flesh into stone
fluted memories are forged from bone
snake congregation bearing footfall refrain
limestone hearted forever.. a mad harlot to the rain

Couplet
The unicorn was soaring high;
I watched it fly across the sky.
A regal beast of snowy white,
Its horn was like a stalagmite;
Its wingspan took my breath away.
I smiled with joy to hear it neigh -
But then I spotted on its back,
A grinning rider, dressed in black:
PD was out with her new pet;
She waved and zoomed off like a jet.
And as they flew towards the sun,
I knew her birthday would be fun.
Jack Horne, with love to PD on her birthday ***

Rhyme
my frozen tundra
stalagtite icicle
protected by snow
winter residue
her fantastic confidence
regally standing
solid and secure
overseeing the village
guarding the mountain
winter protects her
carefully keeps her secrets
adding extra strength
she enjoys brief reign
glistening in frozen truth
spying on others
a dazzling glow
many come to worship her
rever her coldness
wishing she could stay
a frosty benefactor
winter creatures hide
