Shadow's Dark Apparel

My shadow wears
A slaw sunlight rain falls
cloak’s darkness
raincoat
His hair is like matted cotton
hair as natural as a desert bush
my shadow is a cotton field
being rain on moist sticky
gummy blooms bushy
pearl white as the clouds

Delicious fruit so small and sweet
Of red, purple and light green
Seedless, seeded on the vine
Some are for eating 
Others just for wine
Chill them add them 
To an iced drink
Make sure you 
Wash them well
In the kitchen sink
Juice them squish them
Eat them raw
Cut them up
Serve them in
Cold fruit slaw
What a gift
Of sweet candy
I just think 
Grapes are just dandy...

I like cake, any kind at all,
give me cake, forget the chicken and slaw.

I know my shape is changing fast;
how much longer will these cravings last.

Blueberry Streusel or Chocolate Devine, and 
even Coconut too; I'll eat my cake before my beef stew.

slow roasting turkey all morning long
7am we crowd for breakfast
by 8am the master dressing maker takes her stage
then one by one 
we begin to shred the slaw,
mash the tators,
lump the gravy,
brown the rolls,
cream the corn, 
and butter dab the homemade noodles
around the table we sit
giving thanks to all before us
as we begin to pass around our meal family style
leaving room for our dessert!...
