The Moon

Last night;
A star departed from the sky
It's tears signified a lustrous goodbye.
Seeing to it; I wished for you.
Smilingly it replied:
"Sorry dear.
A star ever cannot gift you the Moon".

Breathless Elation at Birth

Baby's first breath
Requires a regulated inhalation of air
Expelled through exhalation
Allowing life to begin.
This is usually followed by
Hearing baby's loud cry
Letting relieved parents to
Express their delighted excitement.
Signified by wide satisfied smiles
Sometimes this elation leaves them breathless.

In My Love Today

I watched you sleeping
I could see you breathing
The way your neck moved
A single pulse of a heartbeat
A single moment
Signified
You were alive
You were here
Your heartbeat
Alongside mine
Today
For a few hours
We were as one
As delicate
As two people
In love
Can be
I watched you live
In my arms
In my love today

Rainbow

RAINBOW Another chance, luck and another beautiful day What a unique sight Of various colors Only God can paint The best masterpiece no one can overcome Its’ splendid beauty, a bridge in the sky! Never it can be changed Surpassed, it signified Epitome of hope and happiness A dawn A new luck Yes, a third time around A sweeter love
God made you a rainbow for me!>

The Lineman's Wife

In vision's breath
sugared frost
I see your hands
knuckles cracked
Padded coat
and eyes in tune
to every hissing
movement
In this mind
cold signified
inside your warmth
I long to be
and waste my days
like frozen dew
never reaching the earth
In lines of vigor
pristine heat
I see you struggle
to join, complete
and only with
this chill in the air
can I truly envision
electric.

Compromise

When you can start saying, I love you in the morning instead of at night. Everything turns a shade of gray, instead of black and white. What signifies and shows compromise the most, is when you can care about and respect your host. It means you have reached deeper into your heart now excepting, not getting everything your way. Thinking of another ahead and outside of yourself. Not in a needy way, signified by sorrow, Since you’re not able to play.

Signified Who On Relied Died

what this signified
our queen who on relied
succumbed and she died

after soft smooth ride
hold back our tears we had tried
in heaven queen abides

queen had much pride
occurred changing of the tide
which was bonafide

queen had much appeal
her presence we still can feel
scene seemed so surreal

should see entourage
thoughts of queen in mind does lodge
could hear each barrage

down buildings did rain
could see bodies and blood stain
thoughts of them remain

A Cardinal Encounter

Behind a fence were piles of leaves
The trees had lately shed
And as I passed, my eye picked up
A flash of something red.

I stopped and looked and out it popped,
An unexpected sight –
A cardinal, enrobed in red,
Which filled me with delight.

I don’t believe, as many do,
This sighting signified
A visit from the dead or that
Good luck was thus implied.

I rarely see this bird, though,
Yet my morning did begin
With a cardinal encounter
Nowhere near the Vatican.

Oye

“OYE” (“HARMATTAN”)
[BY OHWOJEVWE ESE GANIYU]

When
	On harmattan wings
Flapped iced
Into my oblongata cold
Into moneyless sadness
Of our Saussure’s paper
Locked in
Folic signified signifier
In language
Too much mystique in
Folic signifier signified
Till tides come
When
On glorious dawns day
We acknowledge
That those potholes
We
Wobbled our way through
In
Thorns trumpeted
Into our ears
Too congealed
To hear Bata drums
Hypnotizing us
Into spag queens hall.
