In the Doctor’s Office
A poetess, sits and waits.
Wondering his pronouncement
on her future fate.
I realize at times, other poets, this
process, you have endured.
The tension, the mystery, one
feels as a sentenced Moor.

This morning in icy cold, Sacramento!

I would predict a landslide (Blue!)

But superstition rears its head
And warns me to shut up instead

as the sea explodes
and Brody’s one hundredth pronouncement

in a silver chalice
vanilla curtain in bride’s boudoir
one pastel petal on floor
pristinely cupped
purity and innocence of chamber
wedding dress & petticoat
on satin hangers
pronouncement will be made
in morrow
when her soft skin is kissed
tenderly
and carelessly
the gown and petticoat
the old, new, borrowed, blue
and one potent petal
on the floor
below
a silver chalice
of
voluptuous white roses
The corn maze full in October,
“As the misty moon rides high.”
Nighttime makes occasion sober,
Still laughter lingers, is not shy.
Headless, the hopeful, scans the crowd.
The high and mighty on his list.
With black stallion, his shrieking loud.
Like judge’s gavel shakes his fist.
One by one the kids are captured.
A pronouncement made with thumb thrust.
They share the hijinks, enraptured.
Price worth ticket - fear was robust!
