Little Red Riding Hood
told the wolf where she stood.
Dorothy informed, "Emerald won't do",
as she twirled her ruby shoe.
Alice said, "off with your head -
Let's paint the town red!"
I don't like Sunday night
It doesn't like me
It's the end of the weekend
which doesn't fill me with glee
Tomorrow morning begins
the workweek's dull grind
that some just can't wait for
but which I really mind
My last hours of freedom
couch potato-ing the tube ~
What the 'H' am I doing
I'm such a dumb rube
C'mon, let's go out
We'll paint the town red
After all, the next weekend
is just five days ahead
The night is young and so, my dear, are we.
(All right, that’s a cliché but that’s just me)
Let’s have a wild night and paint the town red.
(Oh dear, that’s another cliché I’ve said)
We’ll tour all the bars, drink whiskey galore,
Then to a night club and take to the floor.
But, of course, we won’t be doing those things.
We’ll just sit here while the nightingale sings.
I lied at the start, if the truth be told.
The night might be young, but we’re far too old.
