You
___
You cannot escape yourself,
I know we wish to be someone else.
Comparison is an easy deceiver,
no one is much cleaner,
Everyone has their faults,
Your not the only grain of salt.
No one can share a duplicate identity
that would make you a nonentity....

The Game
A boring afternoon this is,
The dullness of the air and the quiet of the trees
Make up together a mundane aura,
The one of vacant emptiness and serene horror!
And I, a rapacious poacher of fame
Wander from site to site,
Keen on winning this elusive game;
The tussle between glory and nonentity....

Falling Away From Me
FALLING AWAY FROM ME
detaching I fade far flung from
my body
a walking corpse dissociating
my mind
trying to pursue yet suspended
in time
a nowhere place of nonentity
so numb
forcing snapbacks triggers whiplash
a crack
shielded by hollowed armored shell
I fall

Wallflower
On the edge she sits, a frail nonentity;
neither bloom nor spirit nor secure identity,
as forlorn and shy she trembles, a man
asks her to dance, she must decline.
She struggles with an careworn heart
out of control, O what a dreadful toll!
How shall she reform her hapless pose
so that, carefree, she may blossom like a rose?...

Nautical
NAUTICAL
a gale of tidal
nautical waves
nourish the shoal
hand palming moist
as wet sands drain
lungs fill with the
beauty of usage
swallowing it in
throat soaked
spheres float above
discreetly quietly
nonentity upstarts
avoid nautical
aquanimity
blind to sea
blind to see
clarity
of mind

Derision
The stone hero floats across the lawn,
approaching nonentity with drawn
leather briefcase.
Interpreting an after-dinner pause,
quietly admires a lady's claws
and perfect face.
A starving hope can be revealing,
her shattered glance up to the ceiling,
her throat in lace.
The power-crystal is just salt
and he can tell it's not her fault
she lost the race....

The Sphinx
The Sphinx, an early Egyptian god
With head of a man and feline’s bod
Was a helpless kind of deity
Of no use to priest or laity.
God was angered by the golden calf,
But the silly sphinx just made him laugh,
A toy to toss to nearest stars
To land at last on Planet Mars.
It lies there in nonentity
A rock without identity
Forgotten with other rocks around it
Until technological camera found it.
.
For Carolyn's Sphinx contest
won 6th place...
