The Mortgage
There once was a mortgage bank broker

Who sold mortgages more than he oughta

Then one day he found

With the economy down

His own house appraised way under water...

Peace At Last
In life I slept
      worried,
      installment due ...
      mortgages...
      In death, sepulchral sleep ...
       no requirements
       sans scares,
     without collectors `
      at the door...!...

Living the dream
is not quite what it seems
with children, mortgages,and debt.
Reconsider you should,
whats under the hood
of the the thing they call The Dream.
It can suck up your life,
cause all kinds of strife
 and drive you completely insane....

Scruples
Principles that govern
a man’s thoughts and actions
are often purchased
with unspent desire.

Scruples,
logical ethics and morals,
are high-priced considering
the value of pleasure.

A loyal and steadfast
husband to a frigid wife
mortgages his heart,
and the affection of angels
is his only
accumulated interest....

Premium Member Relinquished Dreams
Unremitting responsibilities
Aspirations tampered by reality
Relentless quest for more
Beautiful wife, children, home
Cars, boat, vacations, clothes
All requisite trappings
Abundance of wealth and success
Colleges, tuitions, mortgages
Debt free, substantial savings
Old age, sickness, infirmity
Dusty, unplayed
Fender Stratocaster guitar...

Reflections: Midlife Crisis
P aranoia permeates, etching itself into your fractured face,
A cacophony of constant pressure; life remains a stressful race,
N othing to hope for, no positives like promotion in the workplace,
I nability to love, relationships lift anchor and set sail without chase,
C hildren crushing dreams under mortgages; age grows with disgrace

Black Monday
Maybe not today or tomorrow, but one day!
The rain will wash my melanin away, black Monday

All we inherit is mortgages & curses
Cheap labor has become my purpose
Not today, because I woke up feeling rather hopeless
Does the lord care,my prayers seem so worthless

Life in the village , life in the wilderness
Not the same words some say, but today
has been an awful black Monday!...

World abandonment
vanity infests
greed escalates
charity nullified

Competitive paradise
prices uncontrollable
hunger staggering
debt maximized

Honest lost
integrity futile
words misconstrued
greed rapid

Equality vanished
pensions minute
labor intensified
 jobs down sized

World absorbed
humans consumed
profits soar
mortgages abandoned

World immobilized
composure lost
hope desperate
destruction eminent....

HOPE THAT SOON RESUME

HOPE THAT JOBS BE PLENTIFUL
HOPE THAT ENOUGH FOOD FOR ALL
HOPE THAT MORTGAGES ARE PAID
HOPE THAT ALL FINANCIAL TROUBLES ARE OVER
HOPE THAT YOU ARE NOT DEPRESSED
HOPE THAT EVERYONE GET YOUR REST
HOPE THAT WE ALL CAN STILL RE-UNITE
HOPE AND PRAYERS FOR ALL IN DISTRESS.

STAY SAFE, KEEPING THE FAITH. BE BLESSED....

Premium Member Waxes Taxes
We dread this time of the year
We are absolutely sure
   When we file our taxes
   Sam will surely wax us
Greed of Uncle Sam is clear

Stopping off from work to drink a beer
Not an option is totally clear
   Senators' raises
   Citizens' gazes
So much as a beer can’t buy this year

Economy in quite a mess
Intellectuals must confess
   We’re slowly slipping
   Mortgages flipping
Armageddon is the conquest!

For and in honor of Carolyn Devonshire
And Contest...

Premium Member The Cost of Living
Spending money here and there
Pennies, nickels, dimes and dollars
Prices raised without a prayer
Leaving my pocket with a holler

Groceries cost more and more
Utilities are higher and higher
I don’t really know what for
I sometimes wish I knew the supplier

Mortgages and interest take a chunk
What do I do about the price of red meat?
My paycheck has definitely shrunk
Buying one dinner is a huge feat

Maybe I’ll get a big raise one day
I hope that will happen this May...
