Each night I fall awake
a good days sleep before I wake down
I'll pretend and make the smile
upright into to a frown
You ask and I'll get down for you
and stand perfectly wobbly
Meet you on the shore with the sand
so smooth and knobbly

Jeez Louise
You’ve got knobbly knees
And the dust in your hair is making me sneeze.
But your mood is mellow
And your teeth are quite yellow
Oh and I note your wrinkly skin’s sallow.
And your breath could peel paint
It’s making me faint
Fighting the nausea requires self-constraint.
You’re like the smell of bad cheese
Floating in on the breeze
So all I can say is “jeez Louise.”
Crackles of snow in midlit-air.
This Wrangell fare!
Aflame, the Alaskan forest
of calm and rest.
Salmonberry sparks, deep yellow —
knobbly, mellow.
Raspberry red and mute orange —
berry-torrent.
Tasting its sweet, perfume of life.
Backwoods — no strife.
Cool crunch of footprints at midnight.
Late Spring so bright.
