Here is the grave of Petty our pet,
Not a sweeter lady I've ever met.
To eleven kits she was a dear ma,
For her, I hope cat heaven ain't so far.

wolves hunker down with their kits
cowed by howling biting northern winds
pack is silent; alpha stands his ground on hill
gods’ winter sky battle intimidates the forest

Dogs clearly possess it
Elephants care for young
Foxes protect their young kits
Giraffe’s calves are never shunned
But can they actually embrace them?

Foxes
lay in the dirt
summer heat
red red against the dusk
mama watches kits chase shaking herself
fireflies dance about
she wanders to the creek for water
they scamper behind her
ready for adventure

I do not know?
Two wolves walked across my yard today
Was I fearful?
Hardly.
I ran in to get my camera, but they were too fast.
I was pleased actually.
The wolf is my power animal.
I was disappointed I did not see their kits.

Winnie was luxuriously enjoying her bath of bliss
When the cat and kits came in to snarl and hiss
Out! She said, but her familiars did not give her the time of day.
They confidently began to slip and slide and chase and play.

I wish I could grow a bit
so my legs and jeans would fit
without using sewing kits or iron hem
just once them jeans would fit.
I wish I was five foot four
or maybe a little more
I could wear fashion galore, off the peg,
I beg, two inches more.

Furry red
Fox kits in a
Pile of three
Bringing a smile
To the face of me
Are they sly and
Are they slick?
Are they ready
To tumble and
Rumble and flip?
They look so tame
Just sitting there
I want to run my
Fingers through
Their red hair!!!

We look like weasels
But we are related to cats
Let’s do the mongoose cha cha and shake our fats!
Rata Tat Tat, Rata Tat Tat!
We like our meat
But will also eat insects and plants
We bring up our kits together
in a colony where we’ll be eating ants.

tender zephyr tempts
maple leaves stretch their arms wide ---
blossoms design beds
Twigs and branches chat
chirping birds search their mates
squirrel kits giggle
lightning stir the clouds
rainbows stroke the butterflies ---
drops moist the parched earth

Oh, sure, Mr. Ruff can handle these kits, the Mama Cat said.
She gave him all kinds of credit and kept her dog-sitter well fed.
Mr. Ruff did his best, he really truly did, but they got the best of him.
He was too easy on the kittens, who were full of vigor, vinegar and vim.

She came in the winter.
My Tiger shared of his food.
He did not begrudge her eating.
My Tiger cat is good.
This spring she bore a set of kits.
There are exactly four.
Tiger watches as his feed
Is dwindling more and more.
We must go to the store.

Part calico, part Cheshire, part polecat,
kits learn secrets of disguise
from Papa Cat, king of stealth.
"Goodnight, my little ferrets,
tomorrow, we climb trees."

Now the fox has lost her fir
she's a nightmare animal wandering the dusk
searching sewers for water
no kits in sight
she is mostly grey skin now
haunted eyes
haunted
we place large shallow bowls of water
at property end
food scraps and dog food
hoping she'll survive the drought
the kits are gone

It is an old story,
love and money.
Many want it so bad,
but cannot afford its honey.
Often they say,
one can go without the other.
Once the journey gone,
it begins to show kits borders.
Naive we exchange the blames,
as they stroll pass the corner.
Staying true good pals.
love and money.

I do not know?
Two frisky kits
Enjoying each other
About the same size
Being watched by their mother
I used a telescopic lens
For I did not want to get carried away
By a super protective mother
Who might have chased me far that day
The kids had no idea
They are being photographed
I secretly named them
Minnesota and McRaft

Spring has sprung!
It's finally come!
The flowers bloom,
I feel the sun.
The bears have cubs,
Squirrels have their kits.
The deer have fawn,
Birds hatch their chicks.
The air smells of
pollen and rain.
The cherry trees
blossom again.
The bunnies hop,
The cows will moo
I'd like to spend
This spring with you!

Handsome Hardy Hal haphazardly hung horrid hearts on healthy hedge
Impossible? Impractical? Improbable? Too near the ledge?
Justifiably joyful, joked Jerry’s jolly jubilant jonquils, gyrating
Kansas kittens carried kaleidoscopic kits that clung to the ledge
Legitimizing lovely lively lilies laying in lovable lulls near the hedge
