Some say on drizzle-darkened nights
The racetrack does visibly tremble
With cheers and raucous jubilations
Races fought by the fast and the nimble

Screams surge from a non-existent crowd
Echo distant yet distinct in the mind
Of one who has long been absent
From a neighborhood left so far behind.

Like a late afternoon afterthought,
a sudden, heavy downpour drenches
and floods the parched marshland.

Here and there, across what once was 
a mirror lake, wet grasses cast swaying,

As the skyline fades into the twilight,
exultations throaty and raucous echo
from new puddles, fresh waterholes.

Shrill jubilations of insects and night birds
fill the air, rejoicing over a sense of rebirth
in the aftermath of a rainy afterglow!
