Others mean less

But as time goes past
This shot might be your last
And with each new test
You are no longer at your best

So you try again
Every now and then
You give it your best shot
Or at least what you got

You look around
Feeling not too sound
But then you stand

Protection across my heart to avoid future damage 
Mental movies play throughout my head vividly 
No amount of money can end this horror 
For safety, my heart's door is bolted shut to prevent potential intrusion 
Armed with knowledge, my ammunition is quite deadly 
Shooting lethal rounds at any suspicious onlookers 
Love will not leave me for dead again
This time I am prepared for any sneak attacks
