Crash go the fenders
    Smash goes the car

Winter
Winter
Old man winter back again
Dinged fenders, frozen pipes
Frozen toes, stolen breaths
Old man winter laughs again
Wet floors, mismatched gloves
Soaking boots, frozen doors
Old man winter strikes again...

Skinny kids
Wrinkled clothes
Crooked windows
Non-symmetrical
Snowman slightly off center
The “Olds”
Wrinkled fenders
A round-headed driver

That's my mom
Foot on running board
Big, black,1937 Caddy
Huge headlights
Spare tires in fenders
Cigarette in hand
Stylishly dressed
Turban and flowing pants
Big smile
Clyde's Bonnie never looked so good
...Great photo

Here she is again
50's drab house dress
Cigarette in hand
Expressionless
My mom
...Sad photo

Watching the gauges.
Listening for a hum or a ping.
Polishing the fenders.
Perfuming the interior.
I would rev up the engine, but I
wait 'til someone turns me on....
