The Diamond Wings of Spring
Spring in her charming
ways sprouts lime-green grasses
that in early Autumn
will be a sun faded
shade of chartreuse, in overgrown
fields, or farmlands bowed
to a coral sky.
And by the Sea, Spring's diamond hues
captivate the shore.

Off To War
Off to war he speeds, jolly
his generation's big chance
to defeat the evil enemy
to destroy
utterly
his cities
his farmlands
to take prisoners
to gloat, boast and brag
to prove that his side is surely in the right --
yet, strangely enough, his evil enemy looks exactly like him...

Cotton Jeans
The February morn' hangs the soft light
puffs of cloud as if to decorate a milled land,
the snow-shine as bright as the sun.
Yesterday there was a trace of the wake
of a skywriter, the color of aged lace
against the lightest blue,
blending with the faded olive
pines, theirs with an orange frost.
And the Igiri tree's captive snow
are the cotton blooms of farmlands....

Amtrak Joy
Marshmallow clouds float lazily by
Showing off fluff to blue bonnet sky
Seagulls and pelicans ride on the wind
Soaring and gliding to make their descent
Farmlands flash by dressed in celery green
Colors of butternut and gold can be seen
Architectural delights of wood, glass and stone
Stand tall like monuments, though never alone
Snow white tipped mountain peaks frame this great land
Framing the earth by the masters great plan...

Once Eden Earth Now New Eden Later-
once Eden everywhere
Now Earth in despair
Once Eden now Earth now new Eden later
Fathom calls phantom voices in the air
Mysterious shadows do conveyor this place
Noises city streets farmlands rolling emerald rolls
Grasses greens is deep
And I envision it all
And I begin to crawl
Amiss the vast lands on my knees I pray
For Eden to come back again

Ogori-Magongo
This is Ogori-Magongo,
a land of many hills
towering high
above houses and
farmlands
scattered about
like cowries cast
on a diviner's tray.
Ogori-Magongo,the land
where gunshots herald
moments of merriment
with well-wishers
dinning till tummies
threaten to burst,
and wining
till senses go to sleep.
Ogori-Magongo,
a stream from where
emerge
many intellectual hippos
whose steps quake the
earth.
N.B. Ogori-Magongo is a
community in Kogi state of
Nigeria....
