Lion cubs grow up we warned the child.
He did not care, he had grown up mild.
He brought the kit home and grew him tall.
As you can see six years later, he is no way small.

Narob had not seen his brother in years
found him on the savanna

Chicago In Seven 2

A seven-game world series
Chicago, down three to one
Given up on my cubbies

Seemed an improbable feat
But they refused a defeat
Cubs did what cubs had to do
Cubs in seven, four to three

Midday,
no shadows to muddle the glare.

Fawn stuck in a briar bush.
Bear coming.

If only a cloud
could hide the face of death?

The hungry cries
of her cubs unsettle the air.

If only you were not so near
to overhear.

Mamabear

Mother is what I am
Always worrying about my cubs
Mourns the loss of being with my children
Agrees that life is not fair
Beginning a new chapter in my life
Every day a new challenge
Always will love my kids
Ready to take on the world

Bound

I behold I plea the rising Infinite sun,
the dreams within my mind' helen
the cubs of earth begotten;
their eyes, as big as heart
their palms' ice can hold;
an' pleasure their world surround
for a nature to such art bound.

A Mild Winter

It's been a mild winter;
grateful for this
in a light jacket
I feel unwrapped early
less encumbered
sniffing the air
like a bear
leaving her den

no cubs though
too old for that,
and have grown
far too wise
not to fear
the responsibility
of loving....
