Santa Got Fired
Santa got fired for drinking some booze
On his ten minute break he took a snooze
He curled on couch for a nap.
But time went by in a snap
Awoke to the booze soaking his caboose

Essence Discarded
All you see are gifts and lights in the mall
Loads of Christmas trees standing tall
No wise men in sight
Vendors in a retail fight
The gist is lost in their race to enthrall

Niagara Falls
It's been decades since visiting Niagara
It's only a hundred miles or so from where I live
Criminal not to have experienced this majesty
Of this world famous heritage site
Unfortunately it has been commercialized
Practically from the beginning
But that doesn't diminish the splendour
Of this majestic world famous attraction...

Harmonizing Birds
I wake up in the morning and
open the window to hear the
harmonizing birds singing to me,
an all-feathered chorus free of charge,
perched upon a stage of stately elm trees,
tweeting from the spreading of the limbs,

I am pleased to hear their sound knowing
that life is more than a commercialized
environment in which there are gifts given
without conditions....

Jamming Commercials
Starting earlier every year,
Christmas costs more and more with less cheer.
This year Santa fell flat.
His diet took the fat,
Elves said,” this will not be good” they fear.
Watching commercials, they got idea.
Close diners, except pizzeria.
Each ad on T.V. now,
Pictures of pizzas wow!
Santa gains, without diarrhea.
Ads worked, he got a jolly belly.
Elves solemnly sat in a deli.
Commercialized just right,
His red suit fit so tight,
They needed petroleum jelly....

Jealousy
Crazed commotion commercialized
Addictive actions appraised
Watching wearily waiting
Glances, glimpses gazed
Cell phone checked consistently
No new numbers needing names
Conniving, covetous and creative
Greedy gigantic game
Where, who and what?
Questions queenly quailed
Answers acquiring accuracy
For a fearing fortress failed
Captured confidence compiling
Suspicions a soaring social sight
Distrusting defiant diligence
Readily rehearsing rights
