The Canvas
The canvas is blank; all blank
You could paint a picture of a plank
With a pirate on board,
That collects eggshells to hoard,
With some iron around his neck, going CLANK....

Competitive Space
Down at the local health club site
Where barbells clank with muscled might
The biggest display of competitive pace
Is muscling for the closest parking space

Cherry Pi
Delicious
sweet
3.14
yum
fills my whole plate
my fork sinks into the deep red goo
chink, clank
fork hits the metal plate
in my mouth the taste
still lingers
goo on my fingers
oh my sweet cherry pi, goodbye...

Abandoned...near it sank

Drew a blank

Premium Member Magic
My little dice
So small and ornate
They clank against
A dinner plate
As I sit in the kitchen
With Mathew and Ian
Playing magic
A slice of pizza to my side
Those were the days
Before
I can’t go back
But can I revisit them anew?...

Kids Baking
Pans clank together
flour flies everywhere.
Children's laughter fills the air.
Taste here and there.
Pouring ingredients into bowls
spilling most on the floor.
Making memories for all to treasure.
Thats what kids remember
when baking with momma....

Be Quiet
Silence
in the clank of the button
on my blue jeans
tumbling in the dryer

Silence
in the ceaseless yapping
of the dog locked outside
next door

Silence
in the booming stereo
from the truck parked
out front

Deafening cacophony
in the silence
from you...

Breakfast At Home
BREAKFAST AT HOME

Familiar sounds from the kitchen -
Preparatory squeak of cupboard door,
Businesslike clank of pan on stove, water splashing from taps,
Promising chink of plates and cups, rattle of knives and forks,
Smell of tea brewing and flame-done toast,
Crackle of eggs frying, sizzle of bacon....

Bells
The clouds float freely past the sun
Dew drops glisten on the rose petals
Trees rustle as the gentle breeze laughs
Silver bells tinkle the joy of future days

The dark night sky is starless
Mud coats the ground
Lonely feet pad in the cold
Tears flow down the child's pale cheek
Iron bells clank the passing of life...

Premium Member Keep Shooting, Caitlin
   Shot after shot after shot
     Caitlin’s red-hot

Swish, swish, swish; the net barely moves
Caitlin feels it; she’s in the groove

Game after game, win after win
     The adulation never wears thin

Comes the game for the number one rank
Caitlin’s shots go clank, clank, clank

Her touch, gone; her face, drawn
Millions of shots for tears spawned

Below the Frost Line
Clank . . . Clank
Sparks fly for the first time
across another frigid day
black chunks with shards of clay
thrown anger out the way

Softness hardens amid decay
the midnight's all tucked away
the red, the grey, the blues still play
with one foot in the grave

Deep below the frost line
where Lucifer waits alone
this shovel's getting heavy
lay down in fields of bone...

Detoxing From Ethyl
no soap, no ethyl for my skin.

no hangovers left to form my
bottled innocense

may god keep my inner saint
whole so that i may no longer
need to scrub and scour my skin.

may the lord keep me from chaptering
my signatures of sorrow at noonday.

now that all my ethyl gods have evaporated.
i judge all clutter with a sterile sobriety
i take their hollow sinews to the recycling bin.

tossing them in a pile they clank and clutter
 loudly....
