massive oak timbers
hearty men piped to action
mighty war machine
planks resisted cannonballs
like our nation, still afloat

Her hands are an earthquake, Her eyes, waterfalls. Her lungs are the wind, She takes your words like cannonballs.

He envisioned peace
on fields of war
 cannonballs and death

Hit as the war was ending
sweet dreams for aye denied
  ~ on a hero's dying breath

Civil War Marker: Vanderbilt Campus

History’s unpopular these days,
No one cares where Blues shot Greys,
Or where the tons of cannonballs were kept.
Union marker stands aloof, alone,
Monument of bronze and chisled stone,
And students giggle where the Northern troops once swept.

Ballistic

what breach of faith
has time wrought?
like cannonballs
through ramparts and walls
each day bores on,
unflinchingly through page after page
of sickening drivel.

the sun contentedly wallowing
in its yellow sty turns over
without a snort.

at day's end it seeks other fields
to root and hog.

A Sea Shanty

You spit your salty spite at me
Like I'm all who's ever err'd
A few times before, I've swam at sea
I don't jump in unprepared
So watch your kegs and cannonballs
'Fore another goes around
For I have broken masts and walls
Still yet have never drowned
Hung up when Davey Jones' called
And laughed at the tolling bell's sound

Pen as Sword

i drew out my glittery pens
and turned them into swords
ready for the war
against their words and my thoughts

i pen down my feelings
in stories and prose
my ink like cannonballs
aimed at their high forts

not every pen can be turned into sword
not every sword can save you in the war
sometimes wish to be free from living is high
whether its eclipsed or blood moon night.

aeolian mist of Bretagne
as the orange
sun cannonballs into the
ocean depths. shrillness
of sound on shepherd peaks,
trembles down on panic-grass.
sprites and sirens toss’d from their sleep.
the earth violates, the sea
surmounts.
                        trident stabbed whale —
                        hearty breakfast in
                        the fisherman’s bed.
