Bossy Sally knew what we all should do
gave advice to each and all
we who knew her well ignored it
her life was an enormous shambles; a mess
A bossy old cow in the street
was rolling while licking its teat!
When it howled like a cat,
I thought: What’s up with that?
Can bossy old cows be in heat?
Inspired by both a poem and the limerick contest of Jan Allison
each of my fingers has a mind of her own
tapping a rhythm as she taps out a poem
I relax as the ten take over the task bossily
writing missives that are way beyond the real me
as my fingers dance on the computer keys
I wonder, do other poets have fingers like these?

Old peddler wanted a new home design.
He hired Mable, a decorator, and all was fine.
Until she decided to redecorate him too.
I don’t want to change he said, I am ninety-two.
Mable was forceful, she did not hear the word no.
She took lots of his money, and created some woe.
He sits outside his house now, for it reminds him of her.
A bossy overbearing woman, who felt like a bur.
Who knew old bossy
crooned on the streets of Anatevka?
She fiddled around as a marine;
and a matchmaker on Broadway.
This Golden Girl, Auntie Mame,
Bea Arthur, served her country
then lent her husky voice to debunk
Archie, putting him in his place.
This Archibald served in the Big One
fictitiously, but wow, the one
who’d jump into Maude’s skin
was a World War II Marine.

The girl cousins were in charge of the boys
the boys wanted to stand up but were scared
Girls ordered them about as if they were toys
The GI Joes went to grandpa, their grievances heard
He understood they were in quite a whirl
Henpecked grandpa did as much as he could
Diabolic plan readily unfurls
from the female cousins who taught the males
at an early age to stay away from bossy girls
Pru was trying to keep the purple and yellow caterpillar safe.
But he refused to be socialized, kept running off.
So Pru put him back into the grass and tried to socialize a snake.
He sneakily slithered off, giving out a small cough.
Pru was irritated now. For she wanted to boss something.
She finally found a mama’s boy to train and shape up.
He thought she was wonderful and took orders like a hero.
She and mama are both bossy; hard to say who wins the cup.
