And Just Like That
And just like that
       one swing of the ax,
       Autumn`s been felled
       and winter is back.
       With shivering maples
       the sun in reverse,
       the snow laden boughs
       of balsam and birch.
       The streams have gone silent
       birds without verse,
       our days now in darkness,
       the tilt of the earth....

Violaceous lulling bell
 Enchantment be thou spell
Prodigious tortile entwine
Weathered be thy vine

Solstice utmost fair
Lay waste to arctic air
Embedded mossy root
Colossal venue afoot

Keeper of florid bliss
Ambrosia ne’er remiss
Petals supple blush
Lavish wisteria lush

Wispy balsam waft
Caress be e'er soft
Atop verdant bough
Tender be thy sough...

Premium Member Excerpt From the Compilation Prayer Number 2, Tears
Excerpt from the compilation: “Prayer – 2: Tears

I wish that the healing balsam of our Tears
Create streams
that reach our deepest valleys of sorrow,
And cleanse and sooth our pain.
And the streams become great rivers
that carry away our antique, obsolete
and borrowed suffering and collected debris
of old fears and doubts,
far out to sea.

Martin Balsam
(DEDICATED TO MARTIN BALSAM WHO DIED FEBRUARY 13, 1996.)

You starred in Psycho as Mister Arbogast.
You were a great actor in the past.
You starred in Archie Bunker's place with Carroll O'Connor.
When other actors worked with you, it was indeed an honor.
When you died, it was something that people would regret.
The contribution that you made is something that nobody will forget....

Premium Member Windsong
Briny tis vast bethrong
Balsam swept windsong
Droplets align brusque seas
Sailors beware perilous lees

Fickle fathoms she weeps
Discorded notion steeps
Coquet tempest squall
Bounden to celestial call

Sail me matey, harness rein
Envious tis sodden domain
Cast to enchanted sea
Foolhardy, thou may be

Hasten to landlubber true
By chance nary pines you
Submerged in foamy cascade
 Seawaters tis possessive maid...

Premium Member Christmas Day
bright red and white poinsettias all in bloom
smells of balsam fir permeate the room
holiday melodies are playing softly
while prime rib’s roasting in the oven slowly
needhams, cookies and fudge treats to delight
colorful ornaments and lights sparkle so bright
pink, red and white bubbly chilling on ice
many delicious hors d’oeuvres to entice
happy laughter and joyous sounds all surround
while the Christmas spirit is spread all around...

Ply Them With Balsam
My climbing rope is broken
better fix it
said the excitable culprit

A praying mantis was in my sandwich
it provided a challenge
crunch crunch went my dentures

Please don't force the hyacinths
let them blossom in their own time
Please don't be too eager again

If your fingers grow stiff
ply them with balsam
if not rub them with ash

Teddy bear don't let the shadows get you
Depend on somebody
Watch over for the angels
we never meet...

Star on the Tree

she, with care, up a ladder climbs
the gold star on top of our big tree shines
then falling into her love's arms
           ever so gracious and happily
soon that scent of overwhelming balsam scent
           drives us so totally wild
           ouzo with ice....oh, yes
           then off to play
           to launch their happy holiday

Premium Member My Sanctuary
The scent of Balsam Fir Incense fills my home, breeze blowing it around
Without the soft music playing, there wouldn’t be much of any sound
It is quiet here on the hill, where I live and also find my inner peace
Safe at home where all the feelings can be so easily released
Every changing season brings its own kind of beauty here to me
In winter when the leaves fall, the distant mountains I can see
--- This is my sanctuary ---
