The scissor sharpener in the

Pencil Sharpener

Pencil Sharpener

My pencil sharpener (my pencil shavings like to
get high on the
bubble of
air clogging up
the run of liquid in
the pipes) was designed to
absorb my screams of
extreme anger. Also designed to
absorb my
strained whispers.

Pencil Sharpener Woman, from THE WOMAN WHO COULD EAT WOOD

Pencil Sharpener Woman

Her shapely metal figure was baby blue,
but there was much more to her.
She sharpened all grades of pencil lead
with the greatest of whir.

Her movable face plate with pencil gripper and human features was, as commented by most
library customers,
the opposite of gross.

She was very fond of
customers of all colours, of all sizes, the dented,
and, of course, of all classes. ‘Your love of reading keeps you learning,’ she often complimented.

Unfortunately some customers
weren’t fond of her at all though,
and they demanded that
she be let go.

‘Why? Why? Why!’
was her only reply.

When her haters returned books late,
and refused to pay the small fine,
anger and hate
she felt for their stupid action and whine.

So to teach them a lesson,
on the front desk made of pine,
when the whiners sharpened their pencils she shut off her automatic stop mechanism normally fine,
turned her hand crank as
rapidly as an equine,
and her sharp blades
ate up their pencils just fine.

But also to The Interested Muslim

Not wishing to be tipped later,
A Vibrant Security man,
Who would all entrances man,

But can be a lot tender,
A Damned Experienced Driver
In Oceanic Traffic, A Diver!
A Flower-Treasuring Gardener

A Much-Talked-About Cook,
Whose tasty dishes have a nice look
And A Tireless Dishwasher
Who should sometimes serve as Usher …

Preferably as referee An Imam or Parson …

You wouldn’t need much prompting …

Be My Pencil

It's the letter of a lover,
Written to his lady bird;
Emotions are filled in it,
And there's meaning in every word.

Be my pencil says the lover,
And I will be your eraser;
We are just like them,
Incomplete without each other.

I will erase your griefs,
And be your comforter;
I will sharp your life,
Just like a sharpener.

Being there in every line,
I will not let you fail;
Whenever you would need me,
I will be your scale.

In this heart of mine,
Before beating it stops,
If you be my pencil,
I will keep you in that box.

The Pencil Sharpener

I, the sleeper and dreamer
Wish for your end
Is it wrong, blasphemer?
Should I break, should you bend?

I sharpen your demise on a pencil sharpener
Peeling you away….reaching your core of lead
Should I break or should you bend?
Or can’t I just wish for my end?

There’s knives protruding from your eyes
The eyes I know are dead
The blasphemer you are will reveal where your body lies
Beneath your core of lead

I found you among the disposables
Wishing for my end
I blasphemed you and you just gave back
My pencils burning with lead

I screamed as you pierced through me
I felt it in my soul!
But I’m to blame for this masterpiece
I sharpened you with gold!

The shavings fall upon the ground
And still this dream moves on
Pierced, I fall without a sound
Until the break of dawn

I, the sleeper and dreamer
Am still pierced to this day
So I hand the pencil sharpener to you
And pray you’ll be with me
