Premium MemberA Preamble Ramble

Before we play, let's preamble with the entree,
Enjoy the soft shoe shuffle, before the souffle.
Dancing tipsy, on tippy-toes, to belay and delay the mainstay.
It's a wily whisper of words, a teaser to savor in foreplay.

To amble and gamble, to begin with the starters on show,
Unscrambles the egg, but won’t scramble the glow.
For it's only a tongue-tip foretaste, a wink to what's next.
A fling ding unfettered, a sinew stretch, before things get complex.

It's like players who tune their strings, before starting to play.
It's like scene-setters setting the stage for ballet.
It's a warm-up, a rehearsal, a try-out, to get things right.
Before the curtains call up, ready to go on opening night.

Premium MemberRoad Setters

Bridges connecting lines and dots on roads where people pass
Edges and rims dissecting flaps and humps, cones and tones that rap
Clamps and bolts, braces and thongs, hashtags and pegs, anchor holds

Premium MemberThe Trend Setters

They tell you what's hot,
They tell you what's not,
They'll tell you who's who.

They tell you what to wear,
They tell you what to share,
They'll tell you what to do.

They tell you what to say,
They tell you who to pay,
The'll tell you who to doubt.

They tell you what to eat,
They tell you who to beat,
They'll tell you what it's all about.

They tell you what to buy,
They tell you when to cry,
They'll tell you that it's just a game.

They tell you who to cheer,
They tell you who to smear,
They'll never ever take the blame.

But I don't need to be told,
And I don't need to be sold,
Cause on my own I'm doing well.

When it comes to a choice,
I'll just trust my own voice,
So who the hell are they to tell.

A Dog

I claimed ---and passionately---
that I'd never have a small dog,
much less one with "poo" in its name.
Not for me yappy Yorkies, shivering Chihuahuas,
shaky Shih Tzus, or terrible terriers.
Give me a wolfhound, a Dane, a mastiff,
a dog with paws like saucers,
a bark like thunder, and a tail like a whip,
(Christmas tree be damned!)
I prefer drooling retrievers, dignified shepherds.
hard-working setters, lumbering Bernards.

With this firmly in mind,
I went puppy shopping today.

Meet my Maltipoo.
Cujo.
(I haven't lost my mind completely.)

Word-Worker

Word-Worker

Thee procurement and collection
Of this smattering of letters
No matter your predilection
For future employment of type setters
To criss and cross all the tees and eyes
Paying close attention to the prose
Transcribing thine inner reflections width and lengthwise
In all subsequent rows
By paying out the aforementioned
It may be held in contention
That without future authorship; I would be un-pensioned.

Premium MemberPainting the Town

We danced violet nights into day,
And walked the sunny bay.
We dined champagne and caviar,
And drove far in your beautiful car!

Everyone noticed when we hit the scene,
Like actors on a movie screen.
Each hot party sent invitations.
Had friends in many nations.

I owned lots of lovely dresses;
Had the acquaintance of princesses!
Each day we made the society page.
Our lives were quite the rage.

A blur of operas, theaters, concerts;
We were socially witty, always pert.
Committed no little social crimes.
Trend setters, we graced The Times.

Day and evening, we painted the town!
Wearily, rosy sunsets went down.
No one will ever forget our names.
Such was our fame!

My Ancestors

The room is filled with an aroma
They are love letters
Their sweetness tastes like honey
Their anger is like a lion roaring

They are game changers
They are trend setters
They are opportunists
They are risk takers

Their love is hard all the time
Their presence is felt all around
Their pride is their downfall
Their past is their strength
Their future is their stamina

Their sing the same song
They have stories to be told
They are kings in the making
They have an honour to be

Their wisdom is endless
They bear fruit in their own time
Their specification is crucial
Their gifts are priceless

Cupid, Pulls Back the Bow

Once again it is February,
glittering like our Anniversary.

Roses everywhere in red;
sweet fragrance has spread!

Teenagers scribble love letters;
girls well-dressed in their trend setters.

Old couples hold each other in bliss;
extra joyful days God has blessed without lease.

Chocolate shops are open until midnight;
the moonlight is romantically bright!

Sweet kisses steal the show,
even lips that don't know.

Love has finally come to bloom;
chasing away singles' gloom!

The Railway

Vertically they have gone to see the horizon
dividing into two parallel paths of iron and stone
nor to return or to encounter
sometimes, only crease cross
to pass trains and trams with passengers and goods
ever absurd they are;

On both the sides
modern civilization exists
mills, factories, industries, markets and localities are
in high rising skyscrapers, fashionable, colorful buildings
lines after lines vertically, horizontally
and underwardly growers they are;

Here and there wide and long hollow down bridges
over ponds, lakes, channels, rivers even seas
where ply boats, launches all the times,
sometimes through long tunnel
goes through hills, desert and channel
challenging explorers they are;

I have walked for long and long, faced long quarry
only iron and stone all through the journey
no pearls, diamond or ivory,
i have heard fierce, painful crying
but seen no tiger or lion roaring
absurd history makers they are;

I have seen cutting, burning, clearing forests
filling lakes, dishes, rivers,
leveling hills, killing wilds
for paving the paths of iron and stone,
for ever growing silver civilization
innumerable stations setters they are.

Little Miracles

Little Miracles
Boys and girls fighting the hard fight
Some born into the battle others thrust into it later in life
Living one day at a time
Some only a moment at a time
Poked and prodded
Tired and sick
Talking in adult terms
When they should be playing without any worries
Just enjoying the wonders of childhood
Spending their days with friends and family
Not doctors and nurses
Not hooked to machines
Little miracles that fight hard just to survive
Little miracles that have more love and kindness than most
The bravest of the brave
Strongest in the ways that matter the most
The wisest of us all
They teach us what it is to be brave, and strong
To have hope
Maybe not for them but for the little miracles that follow
The hope for a cure of the future
The hope for a little miracle

Snow Falls

Snow Falls
Crisp air in the night
Sky full of moonlight
The snow gently falling like diamond dust
Covering the earth with sparkling gems
Soft and pure in its beauty leaving the world in silence
I stand letting the blanket of silence envelop me,
Tilting my head into the night sky
The snow landing on my cheeks and lips
Like a lover’s caressing kiss
Coaxing the earth into a gentle sleep
Blanketing us all in winter’s peace
Silently the snow falls

Times Crossword On a Train.

If cryptically I look at gegs
and all I see is scrambled eggs,
I wonder if it can be true
the answer to this crossword clue.
Seven down is 'postmans sack'
(with cryptic clues you learn the knack
to beating evil crossword setters.)
You're asking me how many letters
I can't resist ... its hundreds!!!
