Ecstasy

ECSTASY

O morning breeze of West and South Asia

 Let my soul sip sherbet
From your breasts like lily of the Incas

 Nightingale of the night,
 The aroma of your voice,
So sweet and soothing as the Messiah's breath
Is the seven goddesses of Hellenistic World's melody

 And your sable tresses ,
 Full of Flowers of Taif
 Whose fragrance,
Is the royal perfume of the Pharaohs
Lull my inner sorrows to repose

Mi orgullo and drighten of my soul ,
In the sea of grief - I crave for solace from you - please do not forsake me !

 Here's a keffiyeh - here's a thobe or kandura
 Wear them!
Your curvy body I yearn to see

 Into your heart's prison,
I am girded - Please keep me from the world of separation

 With your love,
Neither world nor family is needed
For to your soul I am entangled in saecula saeculorum.

Everything Matters

It does matter
where the look demands,
  it does matter
The identity of the nostalgia
 of heartbroken...
It does matter
the misfortune, to know
  the ajar doors.
Everything matters because dawn
announces fresh Life
and incites freedom
when each one follows their destination
Per saecula saeculorum...!

The Old Man In the Mirror

He shocks me. Only a day or so ago
I'm sure I didn't look like that.
I try to part the few thin strands
of hair up top, the patriarchs before me
saw on their own sluggish heads
not long ago--I was not so sure that I
would always wish them peaceful rest;
it wasn't my idea!

But I have joined them now; this role
of wisdom in a geezer doesn't
always fit--and no one falls in love
with old ideas when the new ones
are in vogue. Respect and polity
lacked the concern of youth
that I knew 60 years ago.

'Twas ever thus? Perhaps. I never
long for olden days. I would, however
like to have us all just listen
to each other, stow the fear
and tempest in those heads
that sleepily look back at us each morning,
then forgive them, aged and young,
of all our doubts, for hoary heads alone
are not the arbiters of peace or joy.
It is every mother's son
indeed in saecula and saeculorum, say:
Amen, again Amen.

Mater Amor

Matris Dei caeli et terrae
Quam dulce, quam sancte, quam pulchra es
In quo mihi quotidie cupit
Veni ad me saties gratiarum
Illud etiam nunc in omnibus!

Solium tuum perstat in caelo
Nemo potest vincere.
Tempore evertens tua potentia est
Quisque subsunt sua.
Radix est ante saecula,
*****non capere potest.
Tua auctoritas ambit omnia,
Nemo potest ponere terminum.
Your essentia et esse est infinita,
Non est qui semper superstes potest!

O mater dolor
Exaudiat te genuit
Terra autem occiderunt vos
Per tuum, et vivam dolor in terra
Donec requiescat in sinu tuo?

The Candidates

They promised us voters
All manner of pleasant solace
As this manifesto witnesses;
And to show our reliance
We implored them to denounce
Older forms of dishonesty
With charity appreciable by view

They and each of them
And all their ilk even
Swore to buy our support
In gross and in detail
And so on and so forth
Mutatis mutandis
Per omnia saecula saeculorum!

But we were lowly natives
And matched with local casuistry
And various verbal falsehoods
What code of necromancy
Would misfortunes foretell!

Nefarious candidates
The time has come:
Purge your consciences!

Visible and Invisible

The first forgotten
(non erit finis)
was the I,
(non est)
and who would not,
(in phasmatis reverentia)

for my
(Et credo)
expanded world
(universitas)
climbed in
(saecula saeculorum)
and even God
(pleni sunt coeli et terra gloria)
was dwarfed
(et *****factus est)
by nothingness.
(pro totus universitas)

Come, see the light
(et vitam venturi)
of knowing,
(saeculi amen)
for there is no other truth.
(amen)

Quintessence

Continuous, that vibrant stream of consciousness
above our heads, insouciant,
though lacking alpha and omega,
unassailable until
am uninvited. gracious guest.
a dazzling flash of spirit life
uproarious, descends.
For all we know, a glitch in time,
(a mere intensity of purpose undefined)
yet unignored, and seized!

The moment's energy embraced
and all is changed, for
suddenly a thoroughfare appears
on yet another plane,
pristine and broad
across a thousand new horizons.
No, nor fears the rushing blood
through jaded veins to answer
wit a joyous "yes!"
the call to frolic on the shore
(o magum mysterium)
beneath the crumbling stars
(in saecula saeculorum)

Deo Gratias!
