I would often wander through the Tate
walking round the galleries and halls
admiring all the portraits
pictures and artwork on the walls
it was almost quite the hobby
then a painting I espied
of a proper Peeler a British Bobby
arresting is not denied
corporal punishment is implied
I admit would you believe and have to say
the stripes on his sleeve were a giveaway
but I was unfamiliar
with the artist responsible
as the vignette was neither a Sargent
and yet no more a Constable
One of my favorite album covers in which I like best
Includes some famous actresses like Marilyn Monroe and Mae West
Some very famous male Actors it also yields
Like, Marlon Brando, Huntz Hall and W.C. Fields
Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, and Bette Davis are also there
And so is Johhny Weissmuller, Oscar Wilde and Fred Astaire
There's the British Prime Minister- Robert Peel and Hindu Guru- Swami Sri
And there's Sonny Liston but there is no Mohammed Ali
There's Lenny Bruce and Bob Dylan and others you might know
And of course, the famous poet- "Edgar Allen Poe"
You'd have to be good to recognize them all
But it's easy to find- John, Goerge, Ringo, and Paul
It was around 1830
There lived a man who stole
His face was pale and dirty
His clothes were full of holes
He had no job or money
He was forced to steal
He was just surviving
Then along came Sir Robert Peel!
