Hours on bended knees,
followed by tears which flood
the entire soul until saturated,
repentance straight from the heart,
asking for divine forgiveness
to start a new life free of shame,
the solitary prayer is answered
by a beam of light penetrating,
the walls of the structure
directly to the humble requestor,
receiving the free gift of grace.
praying for a sign
hours of supplication
a beam of light shows

'Youngest at 18'
Well at last it's here, my baby eighteen
Yet she doesn't want fuss or show off like a queen
"I just want the money, no presents or party"
That's my girl, she's such a smarty
Heading her way to the top of her game
She doesn't want glamour or ill gotten fame
Works hard for her future
Knows just what she'd like
A car's what she aims for, no time for a bike
She may not even read this amazing post
Given she knows her place, so more important than most
Our chef, our baker, our requestor of ponies
This kid has no time for fakers or phonies
So lucky am I to have her in my life
One day she will make an amazing wife
So here's to my youngest, she's one of a kind
No sweeter a girl deep inside you will find
She may not show it, how loving she is
But her love and affection gets me in a tizz
Raise a cup of tea to this girl, this woman, exec
And if you're REALLY lucky she might just cuddle your neck

NOTE: I was recently asked to write an acrostic piece for a father to his daughter
on her fourth (I think) birthday. This is the resulting work. Luckily, the requestor
seemed to like it, so I am posting it here. T.
Cherished as you are throughout each waking day,
Amazement that you bring to light my weary way,
Residing in my heart, forever you will stay
Recipient of my love that never fades away,
Internally I sing and sometimes even pray,
Evermore my love, in all you do and say.
My child you are the sun when skies have turned to grey,
A beauty and delight, a vision to portray,
Evermore my love, my darling Carrie Mae.
