Brexit Sonnet 25 - Treasure These Islands

Brexit Sonnet No. 25
'Treasure These Islands’

So has the ship really sailed away
With second EU vote stowed in hold?
No blasting horn was heard across the bay,
And we were not of this leaving schedule told.
Our all inclusive, most elusive guest,
Has rummaged yet again for leading role.
Potent power, his hand should rudely wrest,
From those who've rented out their hollow soul.
As anchors raise and hands are all on decks,
As white coated Stewards fuss and rush with work,
As all aboard means Captain's final checks.
None of these, their duties lightly shirk.
So avast me hearties, and hoist the mainbrace square
And treasure these islands, with referenda fair.

The British June Referendum

Referenda! Referendum!
The big ban will make it boom!
Hopefully on June 23rd,
Listen to what I have just heard
Calls of: that is it! That’s it!
It is time to jump,
It’s time to Brexit

The beauty of Britain
Is in its uniqueness,
In its unity in diversity, in its commonwealth,
In its borrowed Kenyan tea,
In its Indian curry
In its jerk spicy Jamaican chicken and Chinese take-away,
In its Irish coffee and flavour,
And fish chips,
Which the empire,
Once upon a time mixed it

That’s it! That’s it!
It is time to close the gates,
Or maybe it’s time to Brexit
Whether it will fit or not,
The opportunity is now here
To fix it.
Once and for all,
To decide and call the call
And play a role, its own role
And hex it.

Hex the bunch of Brussels
And the commission,
With the fake mission,
That intends to flex it

The union, the mighty union will soon
Crack down, if a Brexit, Greexit and the rest
Will definitely follow suit to lax it
But all this may not occur
And Britain will be doomed to remain
Imprisoned and blur,
For another century to come
And be a dictum for others to lance it.

Premium MemberPolitical Agenda

What if I put up a blog, or comment about politics.
What if it grates on your soul, in your craw it sticks.

But you think I’m a pretty nice guy, otherwise OK.
You want to support my blog not look the other way.

For the life of you, you find you just can not do it.
You just can’t raise the words from a bottomless pit.

What kind of person am I to put you through all this?
Surely no friend would plead to such thoughtlessness.

There are places on the net for one who is in need,
of venting the poison which in so many mouths feed.

Take your place in history, record your verbal feat.
May you be recognized and valued by all you greet.

Just leave the soup blogs free from political agenda.
Don’t rankle and debate the many political referenda.

Don’t ire the quiet multitude reading your dilemma.
Lest someone go bonkers with a little Iwo Jima.

No matter which side you are on.
No matter you brag or complain.
Someone is always offended.
Please, lets keep politics off the blogs.
