Redacting Poems

Can't tell the truth
Only care about themselves
Never helps the poor
Gives big at marathon union roasts
Redacting the constitution/priority one
Except for the wealthy
Sucks up to fundraisers
Smooch baby smooch

Book of life

Living in an open book,
I am everywhere I look,
I thought I took a wrong turn,
Feeling the fire burn,
I yearn for peace.
Releasing my hold,
Dropping the load,
Eroding into the landscape,
There's no need to escape,
The lesson is taking shape,
I am the paper,
The vapor in the air,
I wrote every word there,
My story to share,
For those out there,
Looking for a reason to care,
Life may not seem fair,
Careful of overreacting,
You may be redacting some content,
Seeking consent,
For how your day went,
Letting another use the pen,
Until you say when,
Rising up again,
Writing your way in,
The firing pin,
Locked in position,
Awaiting the decision,
Primed for the mission,
Exploding with precision,
I am spiritually driven,
I've written this story over and over,
Never crossing over,
The older I get,
The more I see it,
I am perfecting my gift,
A rift within the present,
Choosing different,
Changing each instant,
The end is in the distance,
I see another chance,
Will I return for another dance,
Or play in the expanse,
I love this experience.

Hope y'all are enjoying the chapter your writing.

No Truth In a Lie

There is no truth within a lie,
looking at all the evidence denied,
the rhetoric of first and second amendment rights
seem hypocritical cries, when
those who spout the lie voice no honor or amends
claiming to be the populaces best friend
yet, redacting their very choice
 and suppressing their inner voice.

Democracy may soon be dying
pushed down and buried by all the denying lying
denouncing anyone who fails to go
with the party flow
and like a comedy tv show
they willingly follow the ridiculous and outrageous lies
incapable of ever acknowledging why
America once raised truth, justice and equality cries.

Redacting History
Written: by Tom Wright
5/27/2019

By cultivating falsehoods that we hope will grow,
We omit things from books so others won’t know.
We spin the truth and from our history redact,
Telling lies with frequency until accepted as fact.

But time once lapsed, becomes set hard and fast,
Whether ripe with goodness, or deplorable, its cast.
The past is a storage locker accorded constant recall,
But too many spin the truth in order to enthrall.

Many aren’t content unless they keep the pot stirring,
The changes they’ve made have the truth now blurring.
This new slant on things, future generations will sway,
But spinning the truth won’t make bad things go away.

“It takes two to speak the truth--
One to speak and another to hear”
Henry David Thoreau

Daddy's Little Secret

Disguised, I see her in secret
A Girl not knowing, her real truth
Skin and Hair, dark as mine
like Mother, eyes beautifully blue
Her face an illustration of life.
Her "Dad" Provides comforts.
Buying clothing and food.
Sheltering her precious head.
My Love, simply doesn't provide,
These essential needs.

The lie so real, now blurring through.
revealing truth seems unthinkable
A Selfish Desire, immensely cruel.
When she brings me, my child:
Relegated to Just, another familiar face,
one of mommy's many friends.
So I concede, painfully living our lie.
My happiness returns, those special days
Our Rendezvous' on odd days,
in strange places.
Refusing to, fully surrender,
Surrender my claim,
still willfully I conspire
redacting our past.
