Mother Nature gazed happily on her brood,
until one of them spoiled her mood.
Her smartest monkey was on the take -
"Could it be that I made a mistake?"

She comes from Rodeo drive she's a babe bent on the starve
skipping school with a slip that serves her the right to leave
a park bench cradles her bony butt
she peels a banana and tries to eat
STOP! she hears as she reconsiders,
maybe she isn't thin enough maybe she needs to purge?
He sidles along with a chill against his collar bone
thin as a rail he eats only crumbs from a dumpster
the park bench is a bed for his head
a reprieve from the boisterous bunch
HELLO! he says, but her eyes are stones
maybe she'll share maybe she'll give me a bite ?
Life is such that we can't always do what the soul asks us to
Life is a turntable with grooves that repeat us til' we go blue
A robin lands on the bench and gives out a little frozen tweet
She hands him a chunk of banana , suddenly their eyes meet.

TURNT INSIDE OUTSIDE
AND UPSIDE DOWN.
OUT OF CONTROL
SPINNING ROUND AND ROUND.
IN A WORLD OF DARKNESS
SURROUNDED BY LIGHT.
BATTLING EVIL
THROUGH OUT THE NIGHT.
OVER THE EDGE
UNABLE TO THINK.
AS HE ATTEMPTS
TO POUR MORE DRINK.
DISTILLED SPIRITS
INVADE HIS HEAD.
REFUSE TO LEAVE
UNTIL HE WAS DEAD.
ROUND AFTER ROUND
TILL THE BOTTLE WAS DONE.
ONLY THE SPIRITS
CAN SAY THAT THEY WON.
HE SITS AND PONDERS
THE QUESTION WHY.
HE RECONSIDERS
HIS METHOD TO DIE.
HE WAKES IN THE MORNING
WITH NO RECOLLECTION.
STARES DOWN RARE SPIRITS
OF VINTAGE CONNECTION.

Sometimes I feel compelled to wander far from
the security I have forged.
That is when life reconsiders what has been
and challenges me to choose or
negate a perspective that I know exists
but wish to deny.
Is not how I see the world mine alone
while others prefer their own experience?
It's not always easy to appreciate
the choices that they affirm because
reality can be so subtle if not
intrusive.
Maybe that is how things are and I
am not alone in my seeking.
The realities of others touch me in
ways unknown and sharpen my imagination
and understanding with explosive
possibilities that I must consider.
