The End of Summer

“The End of Summer”

In those days
they watched for signs
in the heavens

numbers connected
the ways that
weighted the scales

written in the stars
a woman gave birth
to a dragon’s tale

in a beehive cluster
distant, yet,
oh so familiar

Praesepe,
in ancient times, a language,
common and Roman

mysterious
unexpected wonder
ushers in heralded motions

passages changing
passing the irridescent
colour guards of moons

flaming emerald
Nishimura
lights up dark night sky

fiercely mesmermising
like a god ridden
firefly,

hauntingly
borne, eerie
beautiful rune

baptised tears
in bitter waters
the end of that Summer

books and their
versatile chapters
some kept safe

exchanging their
hidden missives, their
covert messages

the pearls
of great price
for a kingdom of treasure

nets
and their fish,
the angels kept

those
they released,
beyond censure

In those days
they watched
for signs

3 parts
a flame
their world

underwater
satellites drowned
cabals in their blood red oceans

144,000
sons and daughters
waited undefined

then,

the strange others
arrived
to rule our demons

in the melting
tribulation cauldron
glowing Pelacarus

light armoured
goblins flying like
strange frightening angels

silver winged
monarchs
mantis not praying

peeling back faces
revealing the bones
of lost souls

the pearls
of great price,
all,

the souls
of lost sons
and daughters

in a lost world

it began
the end
of that Summer

“You doubt
and you're desperate,
you wear both your cross
and your hammer
Such beautiful dreams
of violence,
in them your tongue
is made of silver

But we don't fight like animals,
we fight like men
No, we don't fight like men,
we fight like Gods

Holy, Holy

No we don't fight like animals,
we fight like men
No, we don't fight like men,
we fight like Gods”
(“Fight Like Gods”, excerpt lyrics)

“When you're underwater whisper
Wait for all the sounds to fall away
When you're underwater
insert your feet on the wall of things
(“Virginia Wolfe Underwater”, excerpt lyrics)

“Though seeing, they do not see;
though hearing, they do not hear or understand.
You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
They hardly hear with their ears,
and they have closed their eyes.”
