Long Story Short: You Survived

long story short, you survived
all of life's craziness, junk and jive

one day the sun had been shining but the air smelled foul
for the sea was in turmoil and a lot of the fish had drowned. hope has been suffocating from the lungs of the believers
our communities are being strangled,
our children no longer achievers
but we need to be honest about what is causing this strain
we need to call it what it is when it comes to our pain
long story short, we will survive
if we do the work and in concert now strive
to support each other and elevate one another
to be advocates and the breath of life
for our sisters and brothers
to be the bandages for those seen and unseen wounds
to stop letting defeat be our new favorite tune
as last night was not your last night in the Kingdom of God
to now recognize the power that to you He wants to impart

long story short, you need to comprehend
that Jesus will have your back
and you he will mend
long story short, you need to be informed
that true faith in Jesus will give you
the ability to be transformed.
just don't allow the crowd of unbelievers
and the ungrateful to block your blessing
as you're bigger than that crowd
and have no need to be stressing
and the traffic in life that will impede you
from getting to your destination
may be a blessing in disguise for where you want to go
might be too small for your situation

long story short, you need to discern
that to come before Jesus, you might have to learn
that your view of your breakthrough
is now connected to your new height
as God has elevated you, setting you high and upright
so make sure you have concrete people
in every aspect of your life
as those quicksand individuals will drag you down
into their puts of strife

long story short, you need a solid foundation
and the kind of friends who'll take you
to see the Lord of Salvation
long story short, don't just miss your shot
for when Jesus tells you to go and pick up your cot
long story short, you've been healed and you'll survive
for the voice of Jesus has spoken over you
and in this new season you will surely thrive
