Stutter
WORD FOR TODAY: STUTTER
By Wole Popoola
The struggles we face daily, seem not to matter,
Our attempts they mock, our will they shatter.
Emotions get the better of us, and make us bitter,
Yet our resolve remains to soldier on in our stutter.
To rise above our fears, the chains we’ll shatter,
Not minding their eloquence, we’ll join the chatter.
And in the pause, a breath I earn,
A spark ignites, a lesson to learn.
The words may falter, twist, and turn,
But from each stumble, hope will burn.
A single phrase breaks through the dark,
A whispered triumph—a spoken mark.
The voice they doubted starts to matter,
Each note it sings breaks through the chatter.
Though paths are rough and hearts may flutter,
We rise, unbroken, in every stutter.
Through storms of doubt, we grow much bolder,
The weight is heavy, but we shoulder.
