Pebbled Stream
Rocks and streams from pebbled ruins,
Makes my feet moan and groan.
Water rushing,
Never flushing the dirt from years gone past!
Hurts my toes as I meander by.
A journey that continues to last.
Reminded of our good Christian nation,
Held in such elation.
Humanity rushing past,
Over events we try to trash!
Each painful event is attributed to learning a skill!
Just so much verbal swill!
Taking the tired, poor, and hungry
Huddled masses.
Driven by greed and power,
That surpasses,
Any prayer that might be repeated!
Slaves of every grade,
Found freedom to be costly on the farms that they made.
Indigenous peoples forced from their land and culture,
Lost more to the alcohol and disease,
Distributed as we pleased.
Sex trafficked children,
Learning high paying skills instead of school.
Gay teens beaten and cast out,
Became entrepreneurs with their only lot.
Japanese built businesses and thrived.
Those that stayed alive learned how to start all over again!
Irish escaping a famine,
Gained city skills and tenements by the dozen.
Chinese built cross country railways,
Found fame by living in enclaves!
Let's not leave out the new immigrants,
Shuffled from place to place.
Perhaps another skill set learned,
Or another disgrace.
Whatever the event,
As pebbles in the stream,
Another painful event!
