No Man Is An Island

Smiles brighter than the Sun on a fragrant summer day
Two kids, a boy and girl, go out to play
Only do the threatening storm clouds wipe that joy away
Like a mop across a sticky kitchen floor
The rain washes away that light and declares for war

Children’s sparkling laughter dissipates beneath the drops of silver rain
Their bubbling jubilee turns around into pain
With a heavy heart, their mother explains
Without the rain, there can be no rainbow

If there weren’t any storms, there could be no more Sun
She plants kisses on their precious heads with a bottomless passion
And sends them back into the world, a blanket of shimmering diamonds
These two find it true that no man is an island

Above, an eagle soars and swoops and the birds still sing
Rabbits frolic in the field among the flowers blooming
Inside the youngsters, something unknown is blazing
A seed of hope begins to sprout within their hearts
That little sprout peeks up from the dirt

Blossoming, it comes to fruition and is ripe
What happens next, pictures can’t depict and words cannot write
A ray of Sun bursts forth from between thunder and lightning
Hope becomes faith, for the children trusted their mother
She trusted in One above, another

Streaks of pink and gold are painted in the sky
Holding hands, brother and sister begin to cry
Mingled with rain, their tears water the lively earth
Which whispers to them with life and peace and warmth
Bare feet float across the soft grass towards the horizon
It is true that no man is an island
