thoughts as music drifts from the neighbours garden
the dog just put his head in my open hand
so I gave some little ear scratches and comfort
maybe I'll test out the technique myself
try walking into unannounced embraces
let myself fall into that other space
a space I can't recall the name of
where the world stops spinning
and you are perfectly held and protected
maybe it's me
too scared to feel safe
my instinct is to say yes to all the plans
be involved in being wanted
but my action is to lie still
I've just been advised there's some olive bread I might like in the kitchen
that's an open hand I think...
