The trip and fall laws
Before relocating out of state,
take a moment to pause..
It's well worth the time to
examine the new state's laws.
Six weeks ago I had my trip and fall.
Previously I've never sued any one at all.
A business may be negligent, have asphalt
that is cracked, and some poor patron may
fall and break their back..
In Pa. there's a slip and fall law which makes no sense,
where the property owner can claim, "comparative negligence".
"Were you on your phone, distracted, why didn't you just avoid it?"
As if you had connived to fall and have your bones split..
If the victim is found to share in this negligence, the lawyers can
justify a modified settlement.
No matter how fit and active one used to be, they also factor in
your age and predicted longevity.
Before you shop in Pa. keep eyes sharp as a hawk.
It doesn't seem to matter that I still can barely walk.
