Fair In Meads

The honeydew on lashes freeze
And freeze with awe the sinking heart
Oh misty scenes by window's pane
Thy sight my gloomy soul has fraught

Oh that I fly as angels do
Oh that I may in thy heart dwell
With gloom my wild wild eyes are filled
My aching lids with grief they swell

The meads the fields all gazed at me
From banyan tree the shadow drops
Come on come on from yonder huts
And harvest from these fields thy crops

By shrine I see the swinging swings
The beating drums the sweet meat shops

Oh sweltering beams of summer sun
Go play with clouds thou hide and seek
While crowds with sacred mirth and Glee
Are coming down across the peak

Some children play and eat and run
Some dancing with the drumming beat
Near shady groves by running brook
Why gleaners glean in blazing heat?
What doom is hanging on their heads?
Which grief hath prest their saddened heart?
Share not they joys of Fair in Meads
Which whirl of life they all are caught?
Oh may that I their sorrows know!
Oh that for them glee I can brought !

Ten thousand blooms from Cacusus mount
Ten thousand blooms from
Netherlands
Ten thousand blooms from heavens height
Ten thousand blooms from fairy-lands
Ten thousand stars from far off sky
Ten thousand lamps from shimmering sands
Thousands of castles midst of world
Will build for them by magic hands
Where daisies bloom from earth to sky
Where seraphs play the music bands

My dreamy rainbow soon but fades
In wonder mine eyes vain I blink
The sailing boats of hope do sail
Then in the deeps of grief they sink
